Summer 2026 Earth Sciences X-ray Lab Research Associate

Job Description: 

The Earth Sciences department is seeking to hire 2 Student Research Associates to work in The College of Wooster X-ray lab. The researchers will conduct scientific analyses and share results with a wide variety of audiences. X-ray Lab Research Associates will be trained in safety procedures, field and lab protocols, and software use. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare samples for analysis.
  • Operate instruments.
  • Collect and process data.
  • Assess data quality.
  • Write technical reports, including making figures.
  • Train users on lab methods.

 
Requirements: 

  • Must be a current student at The College of Wooster who has taken at least one ESCI course
  • Interest in Earth Sciences
  • Dependable, responsible, and mature
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to try new things, embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, and learn from mistakes

Ability to work up to 23 hours per week from May 18 to July 3, 2026.
 

Additional Information:
This position is ideal for students who are declared or considering a major in Earth Science and wish to gain hands-on experience and skills in geochemistry, mineralogy, and petrology.
